| May 2003 | See you down the field........ |
| April 2003 |
At long last we have some weather that will allow the first flights of the year. And what weather I've nearly used a gallon of fuel already.... Check out Pit News for the photos of the month, and look out for our new trainee who is now on his way to solo by mid summer. Thank you all for your e-mail, sorry if I have not replied to them personally but it's taken me this long to get the web page back from the server and update (upgrades who would have them) There is a AGM in the month of May where the topic of membership will be discussed. I hope you all appreciate that training of new flyers takes time and we only permit two at any one time. Otherwise us trainers don't fly... Current members the field has been kept mowed up to now so I hope you have been using it? haven't seen many of you lately (not too cold/windy for you I hope.) Anyway send us your fight reports so I can let us all know how your doing. Any idea's on a hint's and tips page? let me know. As for BMFA local and national mins, will be photographing them from now on, (smaller size and less hassle scanning them in.) perhaps BMFA could e-mail them to us, save cost of postage? there's a thought. |

What can I say, he must have heard my preys….. (thank you) Yes we have been as much as time will allow this month, getting practice in before we zoom of in a silver bird to Corfu to the RC Hotel. Cant wait. I went last year, and I can't express the joy in enabling the combing of my most enjoyable series of Islands with my hobby. (will give you a report on our return, as I believe Sprios has a few Ready's to fly) All I can say is the skills are being honed to land on that Tarmac strip.. (Does anyone else have that O MY GOD feeling when you try to land on it for the first time). OK CHAPS!! GOGGLES ON AND LETS DOG FIGHT………..WWI models only need to apply. PS seems the Gerrys have the sky's to themselves… M |

Hmmm. We have a problem tower, seems the web site has filled up the allocated area on the server!! Still I have managed to solve the problem now, so I can continue to enlighten you and produce a rolling year of events. I have finally managed to type up the AGM mins everybody!! (don't faint) and yes I've completed the site Risk Assessment. Look out for the zip file on the down loads page.( PS club password will be needed for the AGM mins.) I'm also trying to get some club badges made, anyone interested??, the more we have the cheaper the cost. Caps also!! T-shurts to come... Talking about costs.. Please make sure you half year fees are in as soon as possible please. Finally, this month flying continues to be poor, rain most weekends, of heavy winds, lets hope for a Indian Summer…………… M. PS if any one wants to ad some New here e-mail me (I sometimes have very little to type (flying to much !! I think not)) |

What can I say, the weather has finally given in to the flying even if it is a bit overcast, That's why this months report is going to be short. With all the flying I'm not getting to sit in front of the monitor and write a long report. You will just have to look at the Pit News section to see how we are all getting on. By the way, I'm glad to see you all down the field, (even if the day was a bit windy "KEEP IT UP") Nice to see our new member Chris, whom we welcome to the club with his Cub. (Keep those left turns left Chris) If you look closely you will see the RM Trainer has a funny exhaust on!!! Well this is the story--- While flying round the Plane had a unauthorized jettison of an aircraft part, along with a improved engine performance and (Noise). Once landed it was obvious what had happened, the retaining nut holding the tailpiece on the silencer has been lost. Improvising using the starter rubber allowed further flying that day.Good thinking BAT MAN. Still it lasted two flights until that was lost also. A reminder to all though on a more serious note, models must be checked thoroughly before and after flying. Note: the field is cut once again (yippee!! No more drop zone) M |

June 2002 |
Boy o Boy isn't time flying? Nearly half way through the year and I'm buying more fuel. I have been using the Flair double silver up to now but have just moved onto the Model Technique's version. There is a considerable loss of power I might add but the overall engine performance is better (good slow running properties). Has any one else come across this? The Grass is again getting longer, the strip is mowed regularly but the surrounding grass is becoming a problem, I would normally call it hedge hopping on the approach run, but instead of the hedged its the grass. It certainly adds to the landing conditions, (30yard squ. area). But as the Chairman said last week, makes you concentrate your landing in a prescribed position instead of any were in front of you. Let's Hope July brings better weather, but as Wimbledon and Silverston are due I'll wait to see. M |

May 2002 |
At last some evening flying sessions, reminds me of my holiday to Corfu last year. Are any of you going to make the trip this year? I'm intending to go about the same time, circumstances permitting. I must get my report done and some of the photos put up her for you to view. I'll see what I can do over the next month now that the PC is working. If anyone I met last year visits this site could they e-mail me please as I've lost some e-mail address in the change of PC. (Ivon, Bob, Alex, Simon to name a few). Anyway more flying his month than any other, my skills are becoming honed and I'm flying the Maggy well now. Pity the Focker IV is no more, it would have been nice to see them both up together. M |

April 2002 |
What weather we are having !!!! when will the Summer come, giving us those long evenings and at/Sun mornings that allow us to fly freely. I continue to fly the Maggy, but with more scale and confidence now, although the landings are becoming a bit precarious as the grass around the moan strip grow again for a second crop of silage. I can see it becoming a drop zone soon. Haven't seen many other members so far this year (hint hint) you know when we fly so come on come along and lets have some photos of you flying. M |

March 2002 |
Well like all good things, a ramp up is always needed after a dormant spell. For thoughts of you who regally visit the site you will undoubtedly have realised the site hasn't been updated for a while. But that has changed this month with the re-commencement of club flying. Yes we have had to wait nearly a month for the whether to improve and for our landlord to cut the grass for silage. March has seen a relatively sparse amount of flying but what there has been has been exciting The Flair Maggnatella has once again taken to the air, after having a OS 48 surpass fitted. The previous engine had been a supper tiger 45 two stroke, although lots of power the scale element was missing. The only problem with fitting this engine was the modification to the engine bulkhead which had to be moved back (yes back). As you can guess it was not easy but once completed and the engine run on test, it was off to the field for test flights. These tests proved demanding, with engine problems and slight nerves. The final landing on this occasion damaged the bulkhead modification for the new engine so it was back to the building board. Future flights only encountered engine-running problems, which were soon solved. Finally flying only stopped for 2 weeks when the grass became so long it was impractical to land. M |
